Alright, I would say that you’re not to young to start training for body building. Your not going to magically get HUMONGOUS muscles gains in a year, so there is no risk. Baisc prinicples of body building. NEVER train the same muscle group two days in a row. Even if you arent sore, you muscles still need to recover. Most people go arms monday, legs tuesday, resting on wednesay, arms on thursday, legs on friday, and then some people work on the weekend or take it off. I personally prefer at least two days off a week so my muscles have extra time to recover. Now, remember, body builders arent that strong actually. They want to look awesome, so they eat HORRIBLY to have like 3% body fat and make their veins pop out for competitions. Not good at all. That is professional body building though. The strongest men in the world are actually some pretty big guys with plenty of body fat on them so they’re muscles arent very defined. It all depends on what you want. There are exercise techniques good for building muscles and those that are good for building strength (two different things, however there are hybrid techniques that do a little bit of both at the same time.) For more information, I would suggest going to and going to the supersite, not the store site.

I am a strength trainer, 21 years, not a bodybuilder. So I cannot help you with the bodybuilding questions.

I can answer the age questions. My son started weightlifting at age 5, he is now 15, still lifting.

For mass and definition, lift and HOLD the weight for 60 seconds. Do this Mon, Wed, Fri. Every day do aerobics and stretching.
Increase the weight by 1 pound per week.

Haha, Jay??? Boy you aim high!

No it’s not to early to start, but do it right by enlisting a coach or personal trainer who can tell you the what and how’s so you don’t end up injured.

Eat right, take in plenty of protein, consume tons of water and pay attention to post workout nutrition and breakfast. Stick to compound movements; Bench press, Squat, Deadlift, Barbell curl, Pullups, Dips and situps. Use heavy weights and reps should be 6-12 and make sure to change up your routine often and use intensity techniques. Good luck.
